| Tiivistelmä: | In this article, the authors apply ANOVA and 'signal to noise' ratio analyses to coil spring manufacturing. Both methodologies are shown to be beneficial in indicating chances in the manufacturing process so that coil spring quality is improved. The analysis techniques indicate how spring tension can be increased and tension variability reduced. The Taguchi loss function is also derived for this situation to characterize the company's cost reductions resulting from the quality improvements. |
