| Tiivistelmä: | After years of discussion, the EC's new Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) scheme for industrial products came into effect at the start of 1995. The agricultural preference system will not be amended until 1996, after the Community has begun to implement the results of the Uruguay Round Agreement on Agriculture. In the meantime, the 1995 changes for industrial products have entirely revamped the structure of the system, including the rules of origin. As a result of this lengthy rumination, the Community has produced a modest improvement to its GSP system that will simplify its administration and incrementally assist developing states. |
