Tiivistelmä:While several sociologists have analyzed the relationship between the performance of work roles and personality structure, none have concentrated on the underlying dynamics of subordinacy in these roles. This article examines what persons do with the role of subordinate in the work situation, specifically in terms of the decisive and often delicate relationship with immediate superiors. The ways in which the individual's tendencies to feel, think, and behave in certain ways as a subordinate unfold and become manifest in authority relations in the workplace will be illustrated using case study material.
