| Tiivistelmä: | This article investigates whether the AIDS epidemic will slow down the pace of economic growth by examining the association between changes in the prevalence of AIDS and the rate of growth of GDP per capita, using data assembled for 51 developing and industrial countries. Well-established empirical growth equations are used to control for a variety of factors possibly correlated with AIDS prevalence that may also influence growth. The results shows that The AIDS epidemic has had an significant effect on the growth rate of per capita income. |
