| Tiivistelmä: | A major feature of the Cypriot economy is its high degree of interdependence with the rest of the world. This high degree of openness to trade is not surprising given that Cyprus like any other small island economy is constrained by many factors such as a narrow natural resource base and the small size of the domestic market. These constraints have been further exacerbated by the 1974 Turkish invasion and occupation of 37 per cent of the island. Thus any agreement which affects trade is very important as far as the Cypriot economy is concerned. |
