| Tiivistelmä: | When asked about the main issues in international trade today, academics, business representatives and policy makers are likely to put globalization, regional trading blocs and protectionism at the top of their lists. The authors analyze one hundred years of Belgian trade data and, for several historic periods in this century, estimate a gravitation model for Belgian exports to nineteen trading partners. The use of historical data allows a longer term view on the key issues that dominate the current trade debate. |
