| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, the authors extend and improve the available evidence on economic convergence. They propose to use cluster analysis to investigate the evolution of both monetary and real convergence in Europe from 1979 to 1995. To this end, the authors look at inflation and short-term interest rates as indicators of monetary convergence, public debt and deficit ratios for budgetary convergence, and the current account, real economic growth and unemployment as indicators of real convergence. |
