| Tiivistelmä: | This paper considers the problem of hacker-bred technology for sharing videos. Will it fly in the real world world? As called "project Mayo" is the development of a commercial version of DivX;-). It's software used for passing illegal copies of movies around the Internet. With venture capital backing, Project Mayo has transformed into DivXNetworks and plans to release DivX;-) Deux, a souped-up version of DivX;-). In this paper the author is trying to predict the consequences of this project. The first customers DivXNetworks will pursue are businesses. Next, the company will target do-it-yourself video makers. DivXNetworks will finally call on the Hollywood studios, presenting itself like a cable company with a distribution system and lots of viewers. |
