| Tiivistelmä: | To what extent trust may be amenable to management can only be assessed on the basis of a differentiated concept of trust. Hence, this article distinguishes three idealtypical paths to trust. Particular attention is given to active trust as a category that has so far been largely neglected. Whilst traditional and institutional trust combine assumptions of continuity with experience and generalization respectively and thus produce trust on the basis of familiarity, active trust happens experimentally in unfamiliar contexts, is subjectively perceived as risky and takes much will power. |
