| Tiivistelmä: | This paper re-examines Rose's (2000) analysis. Using basically the same set of data, the aim is to provide some extensions and modifications. While Rose argues that his results are extremely robust both in statistical significanc and economic magnitude, this paper shows that simple manipulations of the data set and the regression specification reduce the estimated currency union effect on trade by about one-half. The paper consists of three sections. The first section is introduction; the second section describes the regression framework and the data. The last two sections present the results, and conclude. The paper provides a substantial list of references on this subject. |
