Tiivistelmä:This paper attempts to make clear what, in practical terms, Sales and Marketing Planning is. Most companies have three basic functions: Finance, Production, and Marketing. The job of the finance function is to provide the funds to supply necessary materials and equipment and then to keep the business moving by paying for wages, services and continuing supplies of materials. The marketing function determines where the needs for these products are, their extents and how best to exploit these needs. It then sets about organizing the exploitation, whether at home or abroad. The finance function needs no further elaboration in this context but it is worth discussing briefly the apparent conflict between production and marketing schools of thought.
