Tiivistelmä:Each year in the U.S. businesses lose billions of dollars due to employee theft, fraud, embezzlement, and creative accounting procedures. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, employee theft costs American companies $20 to $40 billion a year. Often small businesses are most vulnerable to pilfering simply because they lack the necessary controls to prevent such action from happening. Those "trusted" employees who want to steal from a small business come up with creative ways of "rewarding" themselves. The paper will give various examples of small business owners who discovered the thefts occurring in their businesses and the methods of investigation they used to obtain the necessary evidence and the outcome.
