| Tiivistelmä: | The aim of this paper is to provide an empirical analysis of industry-academia links by using Italian data on performance of university departments and institutes to attract funding from industrial sources. It is shown in the investigation that conventional political strategies to support industry-academia links by building up intermediary organisations might fail, as industry is mainly interested in excellent academic quality. |
