| Tiivistelmä: | This paper examines the impact of the concept of the real-time enterprise (hereafter as: r-t-e.) on research agenda of academia as well as product groups, and lays out an agenda for achieving scalability and reliability goals. The paper reviews r-t-e. from a technology point of view, focusing strongly on the challenges of building globally scalable technology. Analyzed are the different aspects of the r-t-e. and the link btw. the r-t. functionality and event driven systems. Major bottlenecks are reviewed for event-driven systems in their need to support global enterprise systems. |
