| Tiivistelmä: | Often globalization and localization are considered opposing concepts in tourism research. This article claims that the global and the local are closely connected through what has been described as the process of "glocalization". A study was conducted among Indonesian tour guides, who both fully participate in global popular culture and still represent the "local" while guiding. The conclusion is that tourism provides excellent opportunities for studyng glocalization. |
