According to the authors, weather derivatives can help companies hedge against a wide variety of weather-related risks, such as heat, frost, rainfall, drought and storms. Firms are coming under pressure from banks and analysts to begin hedging against weather risks. It is argued that managers should consider weather derivatives as an important part of their risk-management strategy. |
