| Tiivistelmä: | This article deals with an 8-year, ongoing project evaluating the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Superfund community involvement program (here as: c-i-p). It is aimed at encouraging more environmental (as: env-al.) managers to incorporate evaluation (as: eval.) into their public prt-n. programs as a tool for improving them. This article 1. shares the experience with eval. an Agency public participation (here as: prt-n.) program, incl. lessons learned about eval. methods, 2. reports eval. results, and 3. addresses a number of issues pertaining to the eval. of public prt-n. in env-al. decision making. It is found that written mail surveys were an effective and economical tool for feedback on EPA's c-i-p. at Superfund sites. |
