| Tiivistelmä: | In this research the authors report findings from information connected to the views of middle-level managers about the significance and present state of managerial competencies in the tourism industry. To collect relevant data the authors conducted a questionnaire survey in the hospitality facilities in Antalya, which is said to be the capital city of tourism on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The questionnaire focused on the importance and present level of managerial competencies (technic and generic) needed for valuable job performance. The findings show that managers working in accommodation sector in Antalya thought that the knowledge of all competencies is quite important. In addition the rating for the current level of managerial competency by the accommodation managers, showed deficits in knowledge and skills related to efficient managerial performance. |
