| Tiivistelmä: | Knowledge Management Systems (KMSs) are becoming part of the agenda in several today's leading companies. Based on in-depth case studies of seven multinational companies (MNCs) examined over a 4-year period, four distinctive types of KMS are identified: Fragmented, Content-based, Process-based and Capability-based with their characteristics including both the structure, dimension and flow of the knowledge itself, and the staffing, training and reward systems to support the KMS etc. The empirical evidence suggests among others that while some MNCs adopt the same type of KMS for relatively long periods of time, others transit btw. different KMS types etc. |
