| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of the study is to test the effect of criterion knowledge on use or non-use of the recognition heuristic (here as RH), which claims that people base inferences on recognition only. The findings reveal that relative criterion knowledge (that is, knowledge about the relative position of an object on the criterion dimension) does play some role, but its exclusion leaves the main critical findings of the study intact. Therefore it is concluded that previous studies conducted in the paradigm of natural recognition should not be generally refuted by the argument of participant possessing criterion knowledge. |
