| Tiivistelmä: | A deterministic model is presented for diffusion in a community which is spatially stratified and where communication between strata is asymmetric. The population of potential adopters consists of the town and the villages in the hinterland. Diffusion in the town in which the single centre of innovation is located follows the logistic curve. For the villages, a modified mathematical model is considered to represent the rate of diffusion. Here the diffusion occurs by the communication of potential adopters with previous adopters in both groups. The use of the model is illustrated by applying it to the diffusion of crossbred goats in villages around an Indian town. |
