| Tiivistelmä: | The literature on the probabilistic analysis of sequencing and packing problems has grown sharply in recent years. While the results are of value in themselves, perhaps the most important achievements have been in the development of techniques for the design and analysis of efficient algorithms. Methods of analysis, using various results as illustrations are dealt with. The more challenging and important open problems are in the future development of the theory. Fresh techniques are to be developed for dealing with the analysis of algorithms. |
