| Tiivistelmä: | Traditionally, judgment based on experience has been the basis for planning in agriculture, but increased specialization and the adoption of capital-intensive production systems have stimulated the development of formal planning methods based on the construction and analysis of a mathematical model. The discussion draws attention to the potential application of operations research in the agricultural sector. One of the objectives is therefore to provide an operations research oriented introduction to the problems involved in agricultural planning, particularly at the farm level. The types of planning problems are outlined. |
