A mail questionnaire was used. Data and opinions are presented about the practice and purpose of planning. Effects of the local business environment are highlighted. The role of forecasting is examined. Planning tools and concepts are described and compared. The role of management and the board is analysed. Criteria for capital allocation are listed and evaluated. Contrasts between Japanese and US firms are described. |
