Tiivistelmä:Yesterday's methods of management fail to motivate today's more sophisticated workers; more democracy and self-determination are needed in the workplace. A succession of conceptual frameworks - in Kuhn's words paradigm shifts - are presented as follows: classical - taylorian - paradigm; human relations paradigm; human resource paradigm; self-determination paradigm. This last one gives the best foundation for autonomous work, employee stock ownership, co-management, or co-determination. The most important employee rights are listed. The interdependence of environmental and organizational changes is emphasized.
