| Tiivistelmä: | The immense wealth acquired by the oil exporting Gulf States during the 1970s led to large domestic development projects, many of which were joint ventures with developed countries. These programs were intended to restructure the economies of Gulf States so that they might become less dependent on oil revenues. Due primarily to the lack of permanent technology transfer, the success remained far below the expectations. If Western countries want to compete for future projects, they must be prepared to transfer management. |
