| Tiivistelmä: | In the last two decades companies experienced a growing number of substitutions, which are not primarily driven by economic, but ecological reasons. The author argues, that a statistical model, developed by Fisher and Pry /1971/ to forecast substitutions based on economic advantages, can be a useful tool in forecasting substitutions driven by ecological reasons. He discusses for both cases the factors which determine the pattern of the substitution process, and presents an empirical example of an ecologically driven substitution from the chemical industry to demonstrate the usefulness of the Fischer and Pry-Model for long range planning. |
