| Tiivistelmä: | Important variables that executives can use to influence strategic business unit behaviour are resource sharing and control system. It is argued that resource sharing and control are functions of the strategy. The results support several specific findings. Strategic business units practicing a low-cost strategy tend to have a high level of resource sharing. Output control combined with high resource sharing is associated with increased effectiveness for low-cost strategic business units. The highest effectiveness for differentiation strategy business units occurs when behaviour control is used in combination with high resource sharing. |
