| Tiivistelmä: | This article introduces a Stackelberg model of production with process innovation. The leader invests in R and D, followers are able to benefit from it without conducting R and D. It is found that the leader invests less in R and D as the fringe expands or as spillovers from research increase. If the leader is more efficient than the fringe, a few firms are socially better than many firms, corroborating Schumpeter's hypothesis. |
