Tiivistelmä: | Investments in service sector technology have perhaps been less carefully monitored than have those in manufacturing technology. The reasons for service-sector technology's sometimes disappointing performance are examined. (Technology investments are staggering; operations and technology are decoupled; many operational units are never planned etc.) A systematic approach to technology investment planning and implementation is proposed. Taking this holistic approach to leveraging technology can result in a 15 to 25 percent reduction is expenses, service improvements recognizable in the marketplace, reduced error rates, and increased operating flexibility. |
