| Tiivistelmä: | In the search for a common language for expressing organizational realities at the macro level the authors came across Stafford Beer's Viable System Model (VSM), a sophisticated organizational model of great generality which defines the nature of organizational viability or effectiveness. It offers a unique approach to the understanding of organizational problems, and tackles differentiation and integration, the interface with the environment, internal control systems and decision support systems. The method allows individuals to make sense of organizational problems , which are often cross-functional. |
