| Tiivistelmä: | The theory and evidence of relative performance evaluation (rpe) is reviewed. It is shown that interfirm rpe is more likely to enhance incentives for good performance than intrafirm rpe. This is due to the fact that performance indicators of other agents are easier manipulated in intrafirm settings. It is argued that empirical evidence on rpe has major shortcomings so far. |
