Tiivistelmä:This extrapolatory analysis of process management practices in the automotive and computer industries provides mixed support for the contention that the implementation of process management techniques can improve organizational performance. The establishment of long-term partnerships with suppliers and customers appear to improve performance in both industries, and other practices, such as the use of process-focused improvement tools appear to improve performance only after other techniques such as statistical quality control have already been implemented. Training, quality and team-based reward systems, and organizational commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement don't appear to directly improve performance although they may still be lower-level enablers required for other process management practices to be successful.
