| Tiivistelmä: | The paper inspects the life-cycle of UK firms and their job creation impact. The study uses the considerable Dun & Bradstreet database files.The author needed an estimate of the UK firms'size distribution for a mean number of employees for different size-bands, and to approximate the number of jobs gained or lost when the firm moves to a different size-band. It was found that the only net job creators were the smallest firms with less than 20 employees. From the population and other data the authors conclude that UK small firms are not expanding in sufficient numbers. |
