| Tiivistelmä: | The current theories and practice of combining forecasts from a wide perspective are reviewed. The various motivations for combining - such as theoretical environment, empiricism, computability, software, model-management, creditibility - are discussed, with particular attention to model creditibility as well as forecast accuracy. Issues affecting the performance of composite forecasts are identified. A concluding section reflects upon the limitations of the extreme perspective of pragmatism which fosters this approach to forecasting. |
