Tiivistelmä:Self-administered survey forms were distributed to 25 groups of employees in order to obtain information about social network choices and perceptions of joking relations. Four stereotypical individuals were classified in terms of their unique positions in the social and joking networks of their respective groups. An examination of the behaviour of the stereotypical group members and the relationships between social network choices and the joking patterns produced several findings important to managers: joking is a natural phenomenon, managers do not enjoy the humor monopoly, people on equal levels at work have more fun in a joking relationship. Joking can help to build work cohesiveness.
