| Tiivistelmä: | A growing number of alliances are made between competing firms which cooperate in fields where they normally should be bitter rivals. The economic and business strategy literature helps to interpret the ambiguous relation between cooperation and competition, but because of scarcity of empirical research based upon descriptive data there can be doubts about the real understanding of alliances. The results of an original empirical study are reported trying to fill this gap. One of the distinctive feature of this research was that it took into account the assets and the capabilities contributed by each allied firm. The statistical processing of the data leads to a "chart" of alliances which identifies different types of competition/cooperation links. |
