| Tiivistelmä: | The main trends of the development of informations and communications technology are reviewed and their impact on the management tasks of the nineties is examined. The following issues are discussed: 1. the constant reduction of the costs of computing; 2. the development of computer networks; 3. software development (both quantitative and qualitative); 4. a substantial extension of individual data processing; 5. the growth of competitiveness by the use of modern informations- and communications technology. The most important tasks of information management are indicated. Some strategic relationships are identified. Project risks are assessed. The basic principles of systems development are reviewed. |
