Tiivistelmä: | The "up and down" flow of communication in a traditional organization hierarchy blocks innovation and change. It is argued that a shift to a networking structure allows lateral communication and helps managers and their staffs unleash creativity. However, there are impedients to networking built into the culture of American companies. Most managers implicitly apply a conceptual model of the innovation process that emphasizes the sequential involvement of group of functional specialists. A concurrent model of innovation is developed and presented which describes innovation as a goal-oriented, interactive learning process. The successful application of this model requires that functional specialists network among themselves. |
