Tiivistelmä:Individual giving is expected to increase significantly in a number of Western countries over the next decade, principally because of the huge transfer of wealth from the "baby boomer" generation. Levels of generosity vary from country to country, from some 1% of GDP in the United States to 0.6% in Canada and Britain to 0.35% in Australia. In Australia the share of individual giving and corporate support for the cultural sector is very modest. Reasons for this may include the trend away from corporate philanthropy to giving that is tied to business objectives; relatively low levels of individual personal wealth; absence of a tradition of individual giving as a prerequisite for cultural development; and insufficient investment, on the part of cultural organizations, in fundraising and development.
