| Tiivistelmä: | Using a case study of NUMMI, which is a joint venture btw. General Motors (GM) and Toyota, this research note deals with alliances and knowledge transfer (KT) focusing on the organizational processes used to transfer knowledge. Two possible explanations for the KT outcome are suggested: i. the systematic implementation of KT mechanisms can overcome the stickiness and causal ambiguity of new knowledge, ii. creating successful KT should be viewed from a change management perspective in which trial and error learning experiences and experimentation support the KT outcome. |
