Tiivistelmä:In critically analyzing eight research papers about competence development in organizations, it is found that systematic models, methods and approaches have a great to offer in the field of competence development in SMEs. However, the proposed methods and approaches are still rather tentative and theoretically based. Hence, they need to be further empirically tested and adapted to practical use It is also desirable to further develop and elaborate all the ideas raised in the papers in order to bring them to full maturity. Finally, in order to meet all the requirements in the European Commission's ADAPT program, further research and development is needed concerning how to combine and extend the original methods discussed in this analysis.
