| Tiivistelmä: | The authors of the article - a town planner, an architect and an engineer - make forecasts about land requirement of small firms. First they review tendencies of manufacturing technologies, product cycles, flexible worktime, storage and integration of markets which may have a bearing on the topic. Their statements are: the manufacturing hall's role will rise, multistorey buildings will not be used. More storage place will be needed (just-in-time increases end-product inventories). Productivity per unit of space grows slowly. Agglomerations are the most sought-after locations. |
