Tiivistelmä:Union wages exceed non-union wages. H. Gregg Lewis collected and studied the wage gap literature. Meta-regression analysis (MRA), a new method is used to improve Lewis's estimates by synthetizing empirical results. 152 observations collected by Lewis are analysed investigating how different model specifications, data sets, and variable definitions can affect the estimates. Definition of specific meta-independent variables, MRA results, and annual estimates of the wage gap are presented. Wage gap increases when unemployment increases.
