| Tiivistelmä: | The classical production factors, labour capital and land, nowadays are supplemented by a further one: information. The role of information is considered from economic viewpoints. Some existing assumptions regarding the quantification of the usefulness of information are described and analyzed. These assumptions are attached to decision-oriented and not decision-oriented models. A conceptual framework is developed for the quantitative measurement of the value of information. It is shown that the goal attainment must be the final criterion of the information value. A procedure is presented which uses the calculation of differences among the outcomes to demonstrate the potential effectiveness of different information bases. |
