| Tiivistelmä: | A production/inventory system can be adapted to changes in the market as either a push type system or a pull type system. In push type systems, the production is based on the demand forecasts. In pull type systems, the market controls the production schedules. This paper reports on an experiment focusing on the behaviour of a pull type system consisting of multiple stages and multiple products. The study encompasses manufacturing strategies that qualitatively identify the level of customer satisfaction and the core operating characteristics. Various product switching strategies are proposed and evaluated. |
