Tiivistelmä:Green product innovation has been identified as one of the key things to contribute to gaining growth, environmental sustainability, and a better quality of life. Green product innovation has become a strategic priority for theory and practice. This paper examines green product innovation with the aid of a multiple case study analysis of 12 small to medium size manufacturing companies based in Italy and Canada. A conceptual framework that presents energy minimization, materials reduction, and pollution prevention as identified in the life cycle phases of products as key dimensions of green product innovation, is proposed. Implications for managers, academia and public policy makers are discussed.
