| Tiivistelmä: | This paper examines the import of capital goods. The transfer of technology between countries is a key issue in economic growth. The paper examines specifically import of machinery and equipment that embody knowledge and technology developed abroad, as a vehicle for transfer of technology to India. Imports of capital goods depend on the structure of the industry involved, the type of foreign involvement in the sample firms and their conduct. The type of foreign involvement in a firm influences the ability to import capital goods and modernize its equipment and plant. |
