Tiivistelmä:Olson advanced a hypothesis explaining a worse economic performance in the industrialized world since 1970 than in the earlier postwar period as well as significant differences in performance between countries. Previous tests of the Olson hypothesis have relied on comparison of growth rates. In this paper it has been argued that comparisons of 'per capita' income levels are more appropriate. The statistical tests presented in the paper permit a clear rejection of the strong and superstrong versions of the Olson hypothesis.
