Assembled in Beijing's Great Hall of the People last week for a commemorative photo with their mainland colleagues were 37 prominent men and women from Hong Kong. All members of the 69-strong, China-appointed Preliminary Working Committee (PWC), they had just concluded their sixth and final working session in the capital. President Jiang Zemin, Premier Li Peng and other leaders were in hand to thank them for the advice they had rendered on managing the territory's return to China on July 1, 1997. |
